About this blog

About me
My name is Gannon Beck. I am an illustrator living in Virginia with my wife and two daughters.

About my Art
I do t-shirt designs for the military, primarily for the Marines. I did my first t-shirt design for my own unit in 1992, Company E, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion. I was ordered to do it by my platoon sergeant, Sgt Strong (who later retired as a 1st Sergeant). It was the best order of my life. Things just rolled from there. My business's name is OO-RAH.com.

I've always wanted to do comics. After dabbling with it over the years, I've finally committed myself to getting better at the craft and will post my efforts here on the blog.

    Gannon,

I'm surprised you would say that it was the best order of your life. I've never really done anything special either, just went to work every day, did my job and attempted to have a positive influence on the Marines around me. I'm very happy to hear that you have done as well as you have. I wish you continued success.

    Hi LeRoy,

I give credit where credit is due. Had you not wanted those initial platoon shirts, I doubt I would have gone down this path. I always say that my family helped get me ready for the Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps got me ready for the rest of my life. I think my most formative years where the years immediately following boot camp. I was very lucky to have great leaders like yourself, Sue Bellis, Dave Smith and Al Pickering so early in my career. We should all be so lucky.

    Gannon

Gannon, you've always been a good Marine, good friend, and great example of what a Patriot is. I'm blessed to have met you and other Marines during my time in the Corps. I wish you success and happiness brother!
